Somatic Alignment Educator
Yunuen Rhi, MA, founder of Isuini Martial Healing Arts and co-founder of Dandelion Medicine Liberation Co-op, is a consultant, wellness coach, artist, and writer. Their Mexican and Korean roots in the US have led them to cultivate Western, Eastern, and Native medicine pathways as an antidote for unifying the fragmented individual and collective bodies. The service work they did for Mixteco and Apache transnational peyote ceremonies, for instance, provides a protocol for helping people access ancestral self-healing strategies and pathways. These original instructions are the heart of their facilitation work and trainings.
As a fifth generation Ma Gui Baguazhang instructor they do active research on the body as a source of regeneration and internal power through other lineage based practices. Their teaching is informed by martial training in Xingyiquan, Pikiti Tirsi Kali, Kali silat, Taijiquan, and more recently and for a month, Aikido and Shuai Jiao martial arts training. It is also informed by other mediums such as Balinese, Mexica, butoh dance, a variety of specialized Chinese treatments, ceremony, restorative justice circle keeping, anthropological and performance art research. The body-spirit technology contained in Baguazhang however is the framework they use to incite change from within. Given so, their work aims to activate, fortify and develop a deeper connection through movement with natural systems and resources as a method for healing fragmentation, burn out and trauma. Via the conjunction of these pathways their practice offers creative bridges for self-healing, as a solution for both individuals, and organizations to explore and develop accountable alignment of the being.
Yunuen is currently finishing a book project that traces Baguazhang through an auto-ethnographic non-binary lens. For more information please check out their site: Isuini.com
